Gavin aircrew academy jointly with Bharathidasan University (IECD), Trichy had the inauguration of their course ‘Advanced Diploma in Aviation, Hospitality & Travel Management’ on the 18th of July, 2009 at Jenney’s Residency. Though Gavin aircrew academy has been in the training arena for the past 5 years, the official launch took place as a result of its successful affiliation with IECD, Bharathidasan University this year.

The chief guest for the function was Prof. M. Ponnavaikko, Vice- Chancellor, Bharathidasan University, Trichy and the other guests of honour were Prof. K. Parthasarathy, Director-IECD, Bharathidasan University, Trichy, Mr. M. R. Vasudeva, Airport Director (CBE), Mr. Bhaskar Mazumdar, (Airport Manager-Kingfisher Airlines, CBE), Mr. Senthil Palaniswamy, Executive Director (Hotel CAG Pride, CBE) and Mr. R. L. Shivakumar, (Asst. Regional General Manager (Advt.)- The Hindu, CBE). Mr. Rathina Sabapathi, ADCP – CBE region, Mr. Shriram – Sales Manager (Kingfisher Airlines, CBE), and Mr. D. Venkateshwaran (Board member-Kongu Institutions-Erode) were the other dignitaries. Students of Gavin Air Crew Academy and their parents also took part in the event. The event started off with the welcome address by Mr.Gavaskar, the Managing Director of Gavin followed by the introduction of the guests by Mr.Vinoth, the Director of Gavin. The official launch was made by Prof. M. Ponnavaikko. He delivered a very informative speech on the various courses available in general for the student community. Lighting of the Kuthuvilaku was made by Prof. K. Parthasarathy, who gave interesting details about the course and also mentioned that the course is the first of its kind in India being affiliated to a government University.

This was followed by the felicitations by the other guests of honour. Mr. Vasudeva spoke about the need to train students for the aviation industry and also stressed on the need for the recognition of the training institutes. Mr. Bhaskar delivered a motivating speech on how to become successful service professionals. Mr. Senthil spoke about the scope of hotel and travel industries in India and Mr. Shivakumar spoke on the need for the right attitude for success in any field.

The event concluded formally with the deliverance of the vote of thanks by Mr. Gavaskar. The colorful part of the event that deserves a mention was the cultural activities organized by the students of Gavin air crew academy.
